Nice to get back to competition after my winter between jobs moment. It was bleeding freezing down Accomodation road, and weeks worth of rain fall made the surface like driving of a freshly buttered ice ring for much of the day, but no matter.
Q1 showed up how rusty you can get if you don’t keep your hand in. But only a lap off the pace with a badly set up car wasn’t a disaster.

Q2 I replaced the 7mm Rear Hexes with 4mm ones to take a whole 6mm out of the back track width for more rear grip, but it didn’t really fix it. Also got into too many tangles to make a mark.

Q3 Started to get back into the swing of things. Realised I didn’t have enough rear toe for good push out of corners, and that the wishbones would be better fully forward, and that the inner camber link studs were at their lowest setting at the back, so it would be resisting roll too much. So I corrected all three and got an extra lap and the best part of a second a lap for my efforts. Noice!

Q4 Properly back in the groove and enjoying the car by this point. I realised I still had the under servo weight fitted from the last time I was on Carpet, but as I was running the meeting, didn’t want to take the whole front apart. And a heavier car isn’t a bad idea in low grip. Could really push and the pace and consistency was pleasing.

The Finals were OK as well. It started to drizzle at the end of the first leg, so the grip went home for an early bath. I was happy with 2nd to a flying Ian Russell from 4th. In legs 2 and 3 I had to settle for treading water in 4th because I just couldn’t find the right line and traction to push. Having said that, the new Ceramic diff bearings worked, as did the New Hobbywing motor. So a fair day, without too many problems running the meeting.

Managed to get the B74.2d out for a couple of shakedowns after the transmission rebuild. Better but not quite there yet.
