Just about prepped and ready for the SW Regional Season Opener at Torquay tomorrow. The beast has had a thorough going over today. Very tough to resist the temptation to rush together the B7.1 and run two classes, but that would divert the focus for no real gain. 4wd only tomorrow. All is well for practice, new settings felt like I’ve found the answer for the lazy steering. Will see how the Splinters go in Q1. I think these will become known as Cardiff Pubes
I definitely have not gone over the top with Cardiff prep. All I’ve done is added the new king pin kit to the front….. and serviced the diff with a new stiffer setting… and refreshed all the shock oils…. And freed up a gritty rear outboard bearing…. Replaced the top shaft with the FT titanium top shaft… and vented slipper plates…. New Willspeed springs at the back…. And front… and put different pistons in seeing as I was doing the oil…. Glued up a set of Azani yellows and put the rear roll bar back on. So all I have to do tomorrow is put the kit camber link mount back in, chase the slight gearbox bind down, fit the Willspeed under servo weight, fit the front roll bar Check the rear wing setting and lower the front inner camber link, and fit the zero Caster Block.![]()
As I say, nothing OTT.
