Just about prepped and ready for the SW Regional Season Opener at Torquay tomorrow. The beast has had a thorough going over today. Very tough to resist the temptation to rush together the B7.1 and run two classes, but that would divert the focus for no real gain. 4wd only tomorrow.
On inspection last night, it became clear why Cardiff was such a struggle last time out. The center diff had leaked and dumped 200k diff oil into the rear bearing. All the shock oils were soft and so were the springs.
So a full strip down and careful rebuild. The shock oils looked pretty grubby so 35wt rear, with 2 hole 1.7 and 2mm internal spacer to remove a bit of rear droop. Front, 40wt 2hole 1.6, and lovely new Willspeed springs all round.
300k center diff oil went in and I’ve also gone for longer rear camber links. All that and long wheel base at the back, short at the front should give me the pointy on the nose feel I like, without utter madness.
Finally I put her on the guages, Toe was not far out, but nice to get it bang on 0. Bit surprised to find that the front camber was way high, so dialled that back to -1.5, with -2 on the rear. (+3.0 toe, +1.5 anto squat the other settings.)
Tidied up the power lines to the battery with new set of 9Mod Plugs, which are much easier to fit nicely ( https://agrcr.uk/product/9imod-metal-heatsink-bullet-plug-grips-4mm-5mm-bullets-set-for-electric-screwdriver-rc-car-tools/ )
