Mendip Winter Championship Rd10 – 09/03/2025

A bit of sun boosted the entries nicely today. But even with 21 2wd buggies, the racing was really quite tight and competitive all day. Without much morning dew, the B7 was the obvious choice. Practice told me I had a responsive, pointy car, that was only a few minor adjustments from ideal.

Round 1, Let myself down with a very untidy drive, and a bit tentative due to grip roll. 3 laps off the pace, and gave myself a lot of work to do.

Rd2 was better, tidier. Moved the battery back to the midship position, tightened the ball diff. But, I really must get into the habit of not bottling the move to the gear diff when the conditions call for it. I think with a gear diff in earlier, I might have hit the 15 pace.

Rd 3&4 Were the same stories, a little scrappy and had a barking ball diff and too loose slipper, making the turn in inconsistent. Finally made the call to go gear diff and put the roll bar on the back, but i’d already thrown those potential aces away.

The finals went better, Particularly Leg 1, where I put in a much better clean run.

Overall, the result doesn’t tell the story of what was a really enjoyable, fiercely competitive meeting. Cracking, we’ll have more of those please!

Here’s some clips to give you the flavour..
